The Innervisions affiliate houses it up on this week's RA podcast.
What with his regular international appearances and countless compilations featuring his tracks, you could be forgiven for overlooking the fact that Marcus Worgull has only had three solo releases to his name over the past decade. But what he lacks in quantity, he certainly makes up for in quality, with the hypnotic "Dragon Loop" still sounding fresh after nearly five years on the shelves.
Worgull shares a similar musical trajectory to his Innervisions compadre Dixon, originally focusing on the nu-jazz and broken beat scene before moving over to the housier sound that informs his current productions and DJ sets. Marcus' affair with house isn't a recent development, however, with his position as the owner of Cologne's Groove Attack record shop giving him an ideal position from which to survey a wide range of music over the past two decades.
As you'd expect from the owner of a vinyl emporium, Worgull's love of wax extends to his DJ sets, and for his RA podcast he's dug deep into his collection, treating us to a selection that showcases his fondness for house as well as giving us an insight into his wider musical passions.
What started with an anonymous CD handed out in a dark club to Serafin, found its way via Marcus Worgull to a mesmerized and raving Running Back office. A puzzling e-mail address later the mysterious Copenhagen Housing Authority called Precious System agreed to an adhesion contract. The merry world of modern communication! Everyone who couldn't catch the extraordinary limited releases via Innervisions' webshop that featured some unique versions, can get rid of his or her money now. "The Voice From Planet Love" is transported in an acid disco spaceship, made with some extraterrestrial super powers and fueled with the mighty kryptonite of house music. Additional action comes from said Marcus Worgull after a visit to planet Chic-A-Go and an edit of his remix by DJ Dixon. Have no fear!

"The Other Day At The Basement" reminds on an early Mood II Swing vibe, pitched down to the right tempo. A rolling percussion groover with magnificent stabs and a killer bassline. When Henry met Marcus Worgull (Innervisions) in his Groove Attack Recordstore and played the tune to him, Marcus was enthusiastic. What a perfect combination for a remix request..... Marcus stripped down "The Other Day At The Basement" a little, focussed on dubby stabs and added some wonderful harmonies to this hypnotic tune. When the soulful piano comes in, there´s no question that this Marcus Worgull Dub is one of his best remixworks to date. Emotional, beautiful and a bomb on the deeper floors. Great one!
