23.08.2010 Filipsson & Lindblad feat. Dave Warrin - Reflections

Photobucket

Filipsson & Lindblad aka Holmar Filipsson & Klas Sasse Lindblad gained some

well deserved recognition in 2009 with their debut studio album “Splendor In

The Grass³ on NANG Records (UK). Their fine mix between contemporary

electronics and discofied elements gained a solid support within the dj

community.

Now they duo is back with another cosmic journey into early 90s NYC house

with “Reflections³ with a little help on keyboards from the jazz

instrumentalist Dave Warrin who has released music on legendary labels such

as Large, i! Records, Naked, Ubiquity and Nite Grooves, and amongst other

things, co-wrote Lisa Shaw hit ³Always² and was the band leader of the

legendary San Francisco acid jazz pioneers Slide Five.

“Reflections“ was born on a lazy afternoon in NYC with Holmar & Sasse laying

some ideas down for the now defunct Mr Negative project. Many moons after

the song appeared on various playlists and dj sets and eventually became

ripe for a release in 2010.

For remix duties our good friends Alex Prat and Isao Kumano from Tokyo Black

Star sprinkled some love on to the arrangement and the end result is a fine

mixture of boogie funk house music, as we know from the charismatic duos

debut album “Black Ships³ on Innervisions.

The Rubadub takes a journey into modern NYC house grooves, showing the song

in another context, with Holmar adding some

chanting vocals in the break.

The Sunday Afternoon Mix takes another journey into mid tempo grooves, with

an added piano and guitar giving more room to the groove for those perfect

sundowners !

Release info:

After the recent Who´s In The House hit on Dirt Crew Recordings, Sasse &

James Flavour continue the assault on the floors with another bomb on

Moodmusic.

The Right Way was born on a long Tuesday night session at Sasses BlackHead

Studios in Berlin with mountains of Beer and Chips to keep the vibes alive.

The original is starting the EP with dirty, pushing drums and the insisting

vocal of going the right way till the bass drops and shows some genuine old

school love.

For remix duties no-one else came in question than the mighty Tony Lionni,

his main remix concentrates on the nagging vocal and building a solid base

of 909 drums and Detroit influenced keys for a orgasmic deep house chugger

rolling like the Trans Europe Express.

His 2nd mix, the Deeptech Mix takes a nod into the early techno sound of KMS

and drops in some sweet nu school beats and a massive bassline to keep the

hands in the right direction. We like it !

James and Sasse delivers also 2 dubs, one more stripped down joint and a

Piano dub for a dubbed up Basic Channel vibe.

Anoter solid EP from the Finnish Bavarian Export Schlager !

04: Start Again (Original)
05: Move On (Original)

Listen and react :

http://www.moodmusicrecords.com/promo/mood090

Release info:

Lemon Popsicle, Adrian from Wuppertal, Wollion from Cologne and Sandrino

from Berlin, have witnessed amazing international success, with remixes and

productions on the world's finest deep house and tech labels like Yellow

Tail, Dieb Audio, Rebirth, Brown Eyed Boyz, BluFin, ALiVE, Sprout and Night

Drive Music.

And now we are happy to welcome the production trio to Moodmusic with one of

their finest moments so far. Chordelia caught the ear of Sasse in early 2010

and has since been a favourite on his gigs, bridging the sounds between deep

house and more detroit orientated sounds with its rolling chords and

immaculate production, kickin all the right spots on the floor.

For remixes Sasse decided to take the vibe to early Guidance territory with

an added twist of groove, building an 11 minute chugger. Michai Popoviciu

builds a modern roller , packing the meat where the phat is with ultra

crispy beats and a murder bass line, he surely is on top of his game !

Additionally we have 2 more original productions from the guys, Start Again

showing their musical paths of deep house and Move On bringing the floor

abilities to new levels.

Early support by Luciano, Martin Eyerer, Dairmount, Miss Jools, Shur-I-Kan,

Timo Maas & Gruber & Nürnberg..

20.05.2010 Freestyle Man - As The Morning Comes

Photobucket

Freestyle Man is back. After his well received album "The Bottom Line" on
Hairy Claw, he's been busy in the studio, laying out ideas for more EPs to
come in the coming months.

Wazi Wazi is proud to have him onboard for another taster of his old school
influenced deepness.

We start with "As The Morning Comes" an early NYC house shuffler featuring
Nick Chacona on bass, taking the listener on a funk fueled groove with a
loose disco edge.

The Dub takes a reduced path of beats and bass, keeping the floor nailed for
the early morning thang !

"Wazi Wazi Theme" takes a Rehji Burrell approach to all things NYC, think
1992 Nu Groove with a twist with echoed bass and mesmerizing vibes.

05.01.2010 Freestyle Man album - The Bottom Line -

Photobucket

Running Moodmusic records and djing should be enough for Klas-Henrik Lindblad (AKA

Sasse / Freestyle Man), but his love of music drives him to work overhours. The debut Sasse

album “Made Within The Upper Stairs Of Heaven” was inspired by his early love of italo,

space disco and house and seemed like a fresh air in the musical landscape of electronic

music when released in 2006.

His 2008 album "Toinen" was a landmark for Sasse, showing again his musical abilities and

creating a timeless piece of music which sounds as good in a club, bar or at home. Toinen

spawned 3 singles which gained praise from the dj-community around the world.

Consistent quality and Freestyle Man are two phrases that belong firmly together. Following

on from two extremely well received EPs we are pleased here at Hairy Claw to present the

Freestyle Man album ‘The Bottom Line’, the first full lenght Freestyle Man album since

“Going South” on Sähkö/PUU in 2000.

Having a break with his Freestyle Man moniker for almost 3 years, 2009 was they year to

reactivate the project and his 2 EPs on Hairy Claw proved there was a definite urge for the

raw, untamed house sound Freestyle Man was associated with. The Bottom Line was

recorded in Autumn 2009 in his BlackHead Studios in Berlin with a carefully chosen limited

setup of vintage samplers, old school vinyl and his harem of analog synths, the result being

somewhat updated version of the early Freestyle Man sound mixed with influences from the

past, present and the future.

So, onto the music…. Tracks such as ‘Century’ & ‘Old Fashioned Love’ full of forward

thinking & hypnotic groove and feature a clever use of spun-in samples (all in a tasteful way

of course). Things take a house slant with the no nonsense Detroit inspired grooves of

‘Vibin’, ‘House You’ & ‘Body’.

‘Boogaloo’ and ‘’Seriously’ showcase the jazzier side of our main protagonist, by mixing in

some jazzy stabs to the house sensibilities. This being an album excursion we of course

need some respites in the high-paced activity; tracks like Gigi Groove and Janne slow the

tempo down

Our favourite Scandinavian Berlin-transplanted House-meister has well and truly delivered.

Its our first venture into album territory so all-killa-and-no-filla policy was well and truly in

force. We hope you like the results as much as we do.

Sasse & Filippo Moscatello remix of Eleze - Glory Box has just been released on Italian Ego Music label. The original is a cover of the Portishead classic with vocals, while the remix from the guys concentrates on the groove and strips it down to proper old school meets new school flavour.

Getting support from lots of Class-A djs and being in the DMC buzz bodes well for the release. Allready played and supported by Dubfire , Agoria, Diskjokke, Jazzanova, ,Michael Reinboth, Rob Mello, X-Press 2, Sasha, Satoshi Tomie, Lexicon Avenue, Timo Maas, TJ Kong and Wally Lopez among others.

DMC Update – Number 1 in the Buzz Chart “Follow up to the massive Teardrop from the Summer season taking on Portishead at their own game.”

A superb slice of ethereal house created by Italian’s Matteo Esse and Sant with an assortment of mixes to match your floors - 7th Heaven and Ryan Riback both offering some of their strongest work to date. 5 dancing men (Lewis Dene)”

PENNER + MUDER

NO NOSE KNOWS (Sasse Remix)

Out on September, 30th 2009

Our Berlin favourites Nils Penner & John Muder return to the roots after their massive

release “Sun Rises In The East” on Absurd together with Chopstick and their recent

Moodmusic release “Are You Lost”, which has been gaining powerplay on certain djs

playlists. Sasse drops one of his old school influenced remix-modes on and delivers true to Bottom

FILIPSSON & LINDBLAD “A SPLENDER IN THE GRASS”

Holmar Filipsson and Klas-Henrik Lindblad aka Sasse have the LP “A Splendor In The Grass” coming out at the end of July. Its a really nice release and the combination of these two has brought elements of deep house, disco, and funk to the table. I had serious trouble picking only a couple of songs to feature here. It’s released through Nang Records.

REMIX on Baalsaal 009B - CHOPSTICK & JOHNJON feat. FRITZ KALKBRENNER - A NEW DAY PT. 2

After showing „A New Day“ to some friends everyone wanted to do a remix so we picked our favourites and throw them at you

with another vinyl ... listen closely, here are the interpretations by Stil vor Talent label boss Oliver Koletzki, Mood Music Mascot

Sasse bringing along his new artists Penner + Muder and a dub version by Chopstick & Johnjon.

Starting on A1 is „A New Dub“ – the dub version by Chopstick & johnjon themselves, taking just a snippit of Fritz’ voice to create

a house monster. Using a dirty beat and loopy sequences to buld it up – up to that break, where everything finally makes sense.

Clearly something for the masses..,.

Sasse on B2 does it a little bit more disco. Using all the melodies from the original with new sounds, he takes the track into a

whole new direction. The vocals enjoy a beautiful reverb in this one, dropping off Fritz somewhere far far away.

It’s funky, it’s housy and a little dirty ... that must be that guy from Finland.

On A2 we enjoy a mix by Oliver Koletzki giving us a little sneak peak on the style he will bring us with his upcoming album.

Amazing chords and melodies put the song on a new level – may i say on „a pop level“!? This is so catchy, it won’t let you go for

a long time. Another Remix, another different direction showing how divers this song is.

And last but not least we find Penner + Muder on B2. After some great Remixes on Stil vor Talent and Mood we thought we

have to let these guys work on this. And we got what we wanted. A house loop that makes you move, building sloooowly up to a

magnificiant break. Hands up in the air and there we go...

12.05.2009 Toinen "Remixes"

Photobucket

After the uberhouse burner "Break Up" from Sasse's recent album "Toinen", we're ready to roll the next remix pack from his favourite producers at the moment.

Tracklist:

1.    Pied Plat Remix
2.    Daso Remix
3.    Paulo Olarte Remix
4.    Penner & Muder Remix
5.    Chopstick & Till Von Sein Mix
6.    Gavin Herlihy Remix
7.    Sasse Beatless Mix

Pied Plat, unknown to some but surely getting props from the A-class of djs out there from their Rush Hour debut "Ode To Ede" and being featured on the Marcel Dettmann Berghain mix-Cd on Ostgut Tontrager. It was a pleasure to ask them to remix one of the more Detroit influences tracks "Friday Sessionz" and boy did they deliver. Bass shakin beats mixed with their emotive take on the Detroit sound is laying a basic foundation for a slow techno funk journey you can't resist to wiggle to!

The next on the list is our beloved Daso Franke from one of the less inspiring house cities in Europe, Cologne. Daso is the right man to preach the message of deep house music on his disco funk influenced take on "Friday Sessionz". Taking a turn into early 90s deep house (inna UK style) Daso turns the track into an neverending journey or mesmerizing synth layers and bubbly bass coupled with his lovely drum programming.

Paulo Olarte caught Sasses attention with his lovely Eps on Fresh Fish, Diynamic and Galaktika Records. On "Poneloya" he injects the washing machine style bassline in full gear and keeps the percolator running til you drop taking a note from the Classic back-catalogue, it's a one trick pony but it works like a dream on the floor, as been proved on recent Sasse dj-gigs.

Moodmusic faves Penner+Muder deliver a beatifull version of "Wrapper", one of the more italo styled songs on "Toinen". Turning it musically complete 180 degrees the guys freshens up the spaced out soundscape with added vocal snippets and bouncey beats coupled with their trademark low-slung bassline keeping the groove factor intact and in full form.

Laurent Garnier - "Absolutely fucking great -full club support from me!

01.12.2008 !Out on dec. 12th SASSE - Break Up Remixes (Dirt Crew, The Timewriter, Turntable Rockers)

Photobucket

Die neue Single heisst Break Up Remixes (Dirt Crew, The Timewriter, Turntable Rocker) und erscheint am 8. Dezember 2008 auf Mood Music.

HyperXclusive welcome back our good friend Sasse with the standout track from the recent Sasse album "Toinen" , 'Break Up' has gained props and thumbs up from all over the world - now its time to serve up the hot remixes from Timewriter, Dirt Crew and Turntable Rockers. The original is of course included in its full glory. With support and plays by Todd Terje, Jeff Samuels, Marc Roberts and Sian to name a few, the original is a perfect match of old school meets new school.

First up on remix duty are Berlin producers Turntable Rockers, who turn “Break Up” into a more sinister late night house affair, with added vox snippets and an arpeggiated darkroom disco feel to it.

2nd up is Moodmusic faves Dirt Crew offering one of their dry, driving and for the floor injected remixes with a strong house appeal but definite dubby techno influences which will work a treat at 6 am.

Last but not least, Timewriter tackles the theme with his trademark bounce, and adds a flavour of elegant tech-house to it all, spicing up the strings into frenzy of cut-ups and massive synth lines building a tense arrangement, which will work on both big-rooms as well as for the connoisseurs.

Sasse and Mood Music keep on churning out fantastic house music!!

Ian Pooley – “Very strong package , people from Finland are funky bastards!”

Carl Craig – “Looking forward to testing these.

Matthias Vogt – (Motorcitysoul) – “Massive release. Hope it's out on vinyl, too, will play. thanx Sassmann!”

Nick Warren - "Wondeful release with a great selection of mixes."

30.11.2008 Compost Black Label 41 Turntable Rocker - Whenever Wherever (Sasse Remixes)

Photobucket

Stylish tech house from Turntablerocker for the Compost Blacklabel imprint. 'Whenever Whereever' has been percolating many dancefloors on the continent recently with a dub-tech lite track produced in collaboration with a Smallboy, as has 'Hand In Hand', made for the more discerning middle-of-the-road minimal tech house crowd. The title track gets a deeper reworking on the flipside from Klas Lindblad aka Sasse, stroking it gently with a velvet gloved deep house touch, backed with an even softer dub version. Fans of softer European tech house will gasp with excitement over this.

"Cool, all mixes are very nice, cool vocal!"
Robert Owens

"The Sasse vocal mix is amazing!"
Nicolas Matar (Cielo Club)

Loving that Sasse remix massively!
DJ Nitzan (Fine Art Recordings)

26.06.2008 SASSE - NEW SUN DAY - Moodmusic

After the successful promo campaigns of the last Moodmusic release 'Viola' from Dave DK ft. Tigerskin, and the Moodmusic Digital release from Sassomatic, we are delighted to be bringing you the next outing from the label. This one again comes from the main man himself, Klas-Henrik Lindblad, or more commonly know.... Sasse.

Its the first single from the forthcoming, yet untitled, album from Sasse and comes in the form of 2 long, evolving, pulsing deep tracks which bring the Finn back to his roots of house music.

"New Sun Day" is not exactly deep house but it evolved into a melodic synth-laden monster with a skippy rhythm and a deeper than deep bassline which rolls the track into a 12 minute journey of trippy melodies and quirky effects.

"Clemens" is dedicated to a well known producer with it's stabby disco-groove and whitenoise punctuated arrangement with slow evolving analog trickery in the bass-department - a slightly darker affair than "New Sun Day", "Clemens" still keeps the groove more hypnotic than in-yer-face.

As i'm sure you'll agree, another superb release from one of the finest labels on the planet. Please show your support by leaving feedback and of course spinning these wonderful tracks.

Reaction Sheets:

Laurent Garnier - "Clemens is a nice one. Will play this."
